Profile
I am someone who has always had a strong interest in computers, and the games industry. From an early age at Primary School, I helped to develop the school’s website whilst I was in the IT Club. My passion and enthusiasm for this kind of role helped guide me, and gave me the drive to gain my degree in game design. I am looking for employment within a QA or compliance form. I am used to a fast-paced environment, I love to keep positive and motivated, and I have the drive to work hard within any situation. I am a natural leader and love to discover new skills to master, as I learn quickly and love to learn new and exciting things.
Work History
SWQA Technician (Contract), Sony interactive entertainment,
June 2023 – March 2024
As a SWQA Technician within PlayStation, I was assigned different tasks which varied each day, which improved my skills of being a part of a fast-paced and adaptive environment. I was tasked with Ad hoc, Regulars, Submissions, boots, minors, and different office work for example, spread sheeting, and title information gathering. During my time I have worked with some amazing like-minded people, who taught me a lot about the industry and the work I was tasked with. This impacted my attitude towards working within a collaborative effort, making me enjoy working with different people even if only for a short time.
We work close with the Japan side of the company (PlayStation is primarily a Japanese company), which can mean they will request a task to be done with little to no notice, for example there was a problem with the auto boot system, so we had to manually go through 1000+ titles, which we did within 4 days, which I was commended for, as I work fast and efficiently.
After returning, I would help train and teach the new starters the correct way to do individual tasks and help with any issues they have, for example what certain things in test cases actually mean or helping them set up in the morning.
QA Technician/Game Tester (zero-hour contract), Universally Speaking,
August 2022 – June 2023
As a result of my time at Universally speaking I was given a credit within a Media Molecule title, Tren, a game made within Dreams.
During my time as a QA Technician, I have worked with big name studio's, within the gaming industry (cannot specify because of NDA). I have worked on a number of different projects using both, Helix and Jira issue tracking software, which I use daily to complete task checks, report bugs and perform regression checks. Recently I was tasked with playing and reviewing a pre-alpha, in-development game to let the developers know what is liked and what wasn't liked, so they could alter and change certain design elements to improve the game. I have been using Slack while at work and gained a lot of experience using this, because this helps me track bugs better, by using test rails, slack was used more than Microsoft teams which I also use to fill in excel spreadsheets which are known as "trackers”. These are used for every project. The most recent project involved me testing "UI/UX" elements within a game, to see if they worked as intended. I have gained many skills from my time in this role, relating to the creation of games, reviewing games and quality assurance as a whole.
Warehouse Operative/LLOP Driver & Picker, Sainsbury’s Distribution Centre,
July 2019 –August 2019 /June 2020 – September 2020
As an order picker, I would go from cage to cage putting in the correct items in the correct cages. Once full, I’d then close the cage and move it off to the collection point, where they would be taken to the trucks to be loaded.
I took a career break to pursue my degree. On my return, I got to become a Llop driver. This means I would get an order, put a pallet or cage on the back of my truck, then fill either the cage or pallet with the correct items, and wrap the order in plastic wrap and put it in the correct area to be taken to a store.
Sales Assistant – Volunteer, Scope Charity Shop,
January 2013 – April 2017
I was tasked with; cleaning, tidying, making sure stock is clean, pricing, assisting customers, and stock control.
I also had to transport items from the trucks into the store and supervise and manage a friend of mine who volunteered.
